Dr. Schutt is a Board-certified Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of ear and skull base disorders in both adults and children. He provides passionate care for patients with lateral skull base tumors, tumors of the ears, all forms of hearing loss, eustachian tube dysfunction, chronic ear disease, cochlear implantation, facial nerve disorders and those with damaged function of their balance system resulting in dizziness.

Dr. Schutt attended Colgate University where he received a BA in biology and earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University. He completed his internship and residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Yale University. He went on to complete specialized training, through a Otology, Neurotology and Skull base fellowship at the Michigan Ear Institute.

In addition to providing clinical care, Dr. Schutt actively engages in research and education. He regularly lectures and moderates seminars and panels regionally and nationally. He is an invited committee member on the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s Otology & Neurotology Education Committee which directs educational guidelines and best practices for the field. He has published over thirty peer reviewed articles, multiple book chapters and a textbook. He serves as a reviewer for four peer reviewed journals and has obtained FDA investigational New Drug approval for Phase I/Phase II clinical trials. His main research interests include producing methods to provide the best care for patients with skull base tumors such as acoustic neuroma, improving hearing results during ear surgery, and enhancing diagnosis and treatment for patients stricken with disabling vertigo.

As Colorado natives he, his wife and young daughter love exploring the Michigan outdoors. He also enjoys scuba diving as a Divemaster and is a private pilot.
